Gentle Varicose Vein Treatment

In modern treatments for varicose veins, the veins are punctured, and a catheter is inserted into the vein (see photo). This catheter allows for treatments like laser therapy to be performed on the vein.

Modern procedures for treating varicose veins involve puncturing the veins and inserting a catheter into them. Through this catheter, treatments such as laser therapy can be performed.

Due to advancements in medical technology, traditional vein surgery, known as "crossectomy" is now only necessary in a few cases. Instead, gentle treatment methods, primarily endovenous laser therapy, are used to address venous insufficiency.

Endovenous laser therapy is primarily applied to larger veins ("trunk veins"). For leaking side branches or perforating veins, surgical removal ("Exhairese" or "Phlebectomy") or ligation are still the preferred methods.

Alternatively, sclerotherapy can be performed in these cases. In some instances, the traditional method of stripping longer varicose veins is still used.

In most cases, these procedures are combined in a single session to provide patients with rapid and optimal treatment of various affected venous segments.
